As part of AshantiFest celebrations 2026, the Adansi North District Assembly in collaboration with Nananom and the Ashanti Regional Co-ordinating Council, led by Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene (the Regional Minister) on Wednesday April 1, 2026 reenacted the SarGranti War which started at Amoafo in 1873 and ended with a peace Treaty at Fomena in February, 1874.
The rich display of culture offered a powerful reflection on the true cost of conflict and the enduring value of peace. It reminded us that war leaves deep scars on communities, heritage, and identity.
The program was climaxed with a dramatized account of the Sir Garnet Wolseley War
It brought to bare the importance of ongoing global efforts to restore what was lost. It was a significant step toward justice, dignity, and cultural restoration.
The remarkable nostalgic moments celebrated our history and rekindled the love for our ancestors.
Again, it emboldened the renewal of our call for the return of our artifacts.
Our heritage belongs to our people, and its restoration is essential for preserving our identity for future generations.
